2. You Struggle to Believe God Really Loves You
If you find it easier to believe God loves other people, it indicates something. It is harder to believe He loves you. Then you are experiencing an identity battle.
It often sounds like:
- Why would God love someone like me?
- I’ve made too many mistakes.
- God is disappointed in me.
But the Bible says:
“I have loved you with an everlasting love.” — Jeremiah 31:3
“Nothing can separate us from the love of God.” — Romans 8:38–39
If receiving love is difficult, your spiritual identity needs strengthening.
Identity truth:
God’s love is based on his character and not on your perfection.
3. You Feel Defined by Your Past
When past shame, trauma, rejection, or mistakes shape your self-image more than God’s Word, identity is unclear.
Signs include:
- You replay old failures.
- You believe that’s just how I am.
- You feel unworthy of God’s blessings.
- You fear repeating past mistakes.
- You avoid your calling because of your history.
But the Bible says:
“The old has passed away; all things have become new.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17
Your past is not your identity.
Your history is not your destiny.
Identity truth:
You are a new creation — not the old version of you.
